Precautions for using single-joint sponge forceps

2025-03-04

Reusable single-joint sponge forceps are also called holding forceps by Chinese manufacturers of medical devices for minimally invasive surgery. Single-joint sponge forceps are divided into two types: with teeth and without teeth. Single-joint sponge forceps with teeth are mainly used for clamping and transferring sterilized instruments, sutures, dressings, etc; single-joint sponge forceps without teeth are mainly used for clamping organs and tissues.

When using single-joint sponge forceps, please pay attention to the following points:

1. The sponge forceps head should always face downwards to prevent the disinfectant from flowing to the sterile area at the end of the forceps handle and contaminating the forceps head when it is put back.

2. It is only used to clamp sterile items and cannot be used for dressing changes.

3. When taking out or putting back, the forceps head should be closed and should not touch the container mouth or the operating table.

4. The container mouth where the single-joint sponge forceps are placed should be tightly covered
